On October 24, 2025, the blockbuster movie “Regretting You” hit theaters. Leading up to the release, there was a lot of buzz and anticipation regarding the casting for a new Colleen Hoover project. The release was long-awaited by thousands of people worldwide.
The movie’s target audience of teenage girls and young adults rushed to top theaters nationwide. The book “Regretting You” by Colleen Hoover was originally launched in 2019.
The book began to receive an abundance of love after Hoover blew up following the COVID-19 pandemic. The praise began with the New York Times Best Seller, “It Ends with Us”.
The movie stars actress McKenna Rose and actor Mason Thames in a drama-filled romance.
The leads, Clara Grant (Rose) and Miller Adams (Thames), explore a newfound romance that Clara had been dreaming about for many of her high school years.
Clara is your average high school girl growing up in a small town. She lives with her two parents and has a close-knit family, including her Aunt Jenny Davidson, played by Willa Fitzgerald.
Clara lives a typical life until chaos breaks out in a huge family emergency. Secrets come from left and right, overwhelming Clara. She finds peace within Miller as her family blows up.
The movie zooms in on the raw emotion and hardship Clara goes through as the life she has always known drastically changes with every new piece of information that gets unloaded.
Tension rises within every relationship dynamic, drawing viewers in and keeping them hooked throughout the entirety of the movie.
If you were to ask anybody who was a huge fan of the book, you would be sure to hear various critiques of how accurate the digital version is or isn’t. Many have agreed and come to the conclusion that the movie has many mess-ups and inaccurate scenes.
However, many agree that despite the small differences, the movie met up to thousands and thousands of viewers’ expectations, and many were blown away by the production and interpretation of the book being displayed in the movie.
The movie touched millions of people with the overwhelming amount of drama and heart-filled moments. We see the characters go through many different kinds of hardship and grow through it.
Many were able to find relatability in every different aspect of the movie. The different dynamics of relationships brought light to family drama, and many were able to take the deep moments and learn from them.
It can be very hard to recreate a story into physical form with zero inaccuracy. I feel the cast and staff behind the scenes did a very good job putting the pages into real scenes that are able to properly portray what many readers had envisioned.
I found the movie to be filled with emotion, whether that be comedy, heartfelt, anger and everything in between. The acting kept me feeling as though I was a part of the movie and allowed me to deep dive into the characters’ lives.
Overall, the movie was captivating and entertaining. I would recommend it to anyone looking to find a dramatic and emotional love story.
