Principal Theresa Huttman sent out an email out to the GHS community earlier this week pertaining to the heating issues affecting rooms 118-140 and rooms 200-224. The heating broke last Tuesday, Dec. 30. Administrators discovered the issue initially when they walked into the building towards the end of winter break. The lowest temperature seen was 59 degrees.
“They ordered a special part on Friday (Jan. 2), and it was going to take one to two days to get here, and then one to two days to install and make sure everything was functional. They immediately sent out an email to students and families alerting them of the issue after finding out the problem would take a while to fix,” Huttman said. “We never want kids or adults to be uncomfortable.”
Two outside contracted workers were working on fixing the heating on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and the heat should be running at full efficiency today, Jan. 7.
“We have probably over 200 units, and they’re all working differently to heat and cool this place,” Timothy Cox, the Head Custodian at GHS, said.
