The GHS football team lost to top-ranked Bennington last Friday night, Sept. 27, 56-35 while away. Juniors Bryce Lakers and Drew Boltz both had touchdowns against Bennington with three and two touchdowns, respectively. The Badgers are in the middle of an undefeated season. They have beaten other Class B teams like Waverly and Gretna East. Gretna’s record stands at 2-3 after the loss. The Dragons are away again this Friday, Oct. 4, against Plattsmouth. Other games coming up are Platteview at home on Oct. 11, away at Ralston on Oct. 18 and home against Gretna East on Oct. 25. Mary Jane Kushiner is a junior at GHS and this is her second year with Gretna Media. She serves as Editor in Chief. Last year, she received recognition for several stories listed on the awards page, including first place in the NPW contest in entertainment reviews. She is interested in journalism because she loves hearing one of a kind stories. Her favorite thing to write is feature stories. Besides being in journalism she likes to read all kinds of books, watch movies and participate in GHS's Concert Choir.
Kierstin Gay
Kierstin Gay, Yearbook Editor in Chief
Kierstin Gay is a senior at GHS and this is her third year with The Dragon. She serves as the yearbook Editor in Chief. Her favorite sports to take pictures of are baseball and football. Outside of school, she spends her time hanging out with friends or working at Metro Stars Papio.
Harlee Boyd
Harlee Boyd, Editor in Chief
Harlee Boyd is a junior at GHS and this is her third year with Gretna Media. She serves as Editor in Chief. She is interested in journalism because she likes to discover things about people, GHS and the community, then share what she learned with other people by writing a story. Last year she placed 4th at the NSAA State Journalism contest in yearbook feature writing, among several other awards. Besides being in journalism she likes to ride her horse and compete in rodeos. She also loves skiing, going shopping and traveling.
