WHEN: Friday, Feb. 7, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The doors will open at 7:15 p.m.
WHERE: Gretna High School cafeteria. Enter through the side door in the front, which is by the activity office and the gyms, or the back door near the Black Box. All the other doors will be locked.
COST: $10 per GHS student. If a GHS student brings an outside guest, that guest will be only $5. The guest must come with a GHS student and the guest needs to have an ID.
WHAT TO WEAR: Formal wear is not required, but it is encouraged. Girls can wear a short (more like a homecoming-style) dress or a long prom-style dress. The GHS journalism staff has heard talk about short-styled dresses, but we encourage everyone to wear whatever they prefer. Guys can wear dress pants and a polo or a suit jacket, but none of these outfits are required to enter.
ENTRY: When entering, students will have to provide their name and pay the entry cost. If they have filled out the form provided at the end of this reading, they will be checked in and may enter. However, the form is not required, it only helps provide us with an estimated number of guests. Students would then just have to provide their school ID or other proof that they attend GHS. Students may also get breathalyzed. No one under the influence will be allowed in. Once a student leaves, they will not be allowed back in.
GUESTS: GHS students are allowed to have a maximum of two guests who must walk into the dance with a GHS host student. The GHS student bringing a guest or guests will be required to fill out a form with guest name, school and grade. The guest form will also be provided at the end of this article. Guests will have to provide identification to the check-in table when entering. The identification can be a drivers license or school ID.
WHAT TO EXPECT: When entering there will be a decorated hallway and cafeteria. There will be photo opportunities and photographers will be wandering around to capture favorite moments of the dance. There will be a DJ and plenty of room to dance. There will be water in coolers and food while supplies last. Food is limited and first-come, first-serve.
