Class of 2028 Attends Freshmen Day

Students Spend First Morning at GHS

Two hundred forty freshmen attended their first day at GHS on Aug. 13.  Students picked up laptops, had yearbook photos taken and followed their eight-period schedule. The first full day of class is Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Caitlyn Cheleen, Reporter
Caitlyn Cheleen is a junior at GHS and this is her first year on the Gretna Media staff. She serves as a reporter. She is interested in journalism because she wants to get more involved in the school. She also hopes to write more opinion and sports pieces. Outside of school she participates in powerlifting and softball. A few fun facts about her is that she loves dogs and tacos are her favorite food.
Avery Hansen
Avery Hansen, Social Media Coordinator
Avery Hansen is a sophomore at GHS and this is her second semester on the Gretna Media staff. She serves as the social media coordinated. Last year she received recognition for several stories listed on the awards page, including second place at NSAA State Journalism in sports feature writing. She is interested in journalism because she likes to write. Besides being in journalism she enjoys playing basketball, tennis and hanging out with her friends.
Mary Jane Kushiner
Mary Jane Kushiner, Editor in Chief
Mary Jane Kushiner is a junior at GHS and this is her second year with Gretna Media. She serves as Editor in Chief. Last year, she received recognition for several stories listed on the awards page, including first place in the NPW contest in entertainment reviews. She is interested in journalism because she loves hearing one of a kind stories. Her favorite thing to write is feature stories. Besides being in journalism she likes to read all kinds of books, watch movies and participate in GHS's Concert Choir.
