Dragons Win Season Opener 2-1
On Aug. 18, the varsity softball team opened their regular season at the GHS home field with a 2-1 win over Marian. The two powerhouses displayed drive and eagerness throughout the game. Gretna’s underclassmen played a large role in the night’s match-up. Freshman Megan Marshall’s walk-off bunt in the eight inning turned the tide of the game in Gretna’s favor. Marshall originally didn’t start but was subbed in after senior Ansley Gydesen left due to injury. Sophomore Alexis Jensen was the starting pitcher for the night, and finished with 15 strikeouts.
