As the new year is kicked off, there were a lot of new faces in each grade. This school year, there are many freshmen and senior siblings in the building.
Senior Caleb Haecker, having years of high school experience, is always willing to offer his younger brother, Josh, advice.
“Just don’t care what other people say, and there is plenty of negativity out there, but don’t feed yourself into it,” Caleb said.
Caleb is the president of multiple different activities at GHS, such as NHS president and FBLA president. Josh looks up to Caleb and said he hopes to be as involved as him.
“I feel like he is kind of in charge right now, and it’s not going to be the same,” Josh said. “So I feel like I will kind of just follow after him.”
Caleb said he has high hopes for his brother, and he wants Josh to be able to fill his shoes as he gets older and further into his high school career. This means he wants him to succeed throughout high school, even if he misses his brother.
“I don’t know if I will really miss anything,” Caleb said. “I just hope that he can keep the Haecker last name moving and fill my shoes.”
Having a better grasp of math means that when Cody Malone was in eighth grade, he came to the high school for his math class. With that, Sydney Malone and Cody got to see each other more within the past two years.
“I think it is nice, we were in the same school last year because he would come to the high school for math, but that was only for one period,” Sydney said. “And we can talk about teachers that I have had in the past, and I kinda like, understand things that are happening when he wants to talk about them.”
Cody said he is going to miss his sister inside and outside of school, too. But there will be some perks to her moving out.
“I will definitely miss her,” Cody said. “I like having her around the house and seeing her everywhere. And I will definitely be taking her bathroom.”
Avery Hansen enjoys being involved in a lot of things around the high school, which also means that she wants her sister Ella to also try and go to events and different activities and clubs.
“My advice would be to be involved in a bunch of clubs and activities around the school and to go to a bunch of events, because you can make a lot of friends,” Avery said.
On one hand, Carter Cerny said he is excited to be in the same school as his brother, but there are a couple of downsides to it. This includes the fact that Callum tends to be louder and outgoing, which isn’t always the greatest thing.
“I think Callum, for sure, because he is more disrespectful to people,” Carter said.
It has been a long time since Carter and Callum have been in the same school. Callum said thinks that it is fun to be able to talk to Carter and see him throughout the day.
“I haven’t seen him since the good ol’ elementary days, which has been since like third grade,” Callum said. “And I think that it is pretty nice.”
